Breast Cancer Awareness

Hey y'all! Ryan here with a new mani for you! It's that time of the year again...the month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness.  Fortunately, I have been blessed to not have breast cancer in my family history and have never personally known anyone with breast cancer. I am most thankful I have never lost anyone to breast cancer. But that doesn't mean I should ignore the possibilities or think I'm too young to get it.  Actress Christina Applegate was only 36 years old when she found out she had breast cancer.  It seems to be a very ignored topic with women not thinking they need to get yearly checkups.  I thought I would contribute to the awareness by doing some NBCA nails!

I created the breast cancer awareness nails by painting all nails with China Glaze "Go Go Girl" from last year's China Glaze NBCA packaging. It's a really nice pastel baby pink. It would've been evenly opaque with 3 coats but I used 4 coats. Next I put 2 coats of Essie "A Cut Above" pink hex glitter on my ring nails.  Last I used OPI "Charged Up Cherry" to create a pink ribbon on the tip of my middle finger nails. Then topped it all off with some Seche Vite!

People who go through cancer always seem to be the strongest bravest people...and I also think it helps that they have great support systems, family & friends who love them unconditionally.  I hope if I ever have to go through something as trying as cancer that I have someone who will 'love me through it'.  I for sure know my family will be there for me no matter what.  I have never been 'in love' before but I hope if I find someone to be my partner in life that they love me more if I were to go through something as difficult as that.  Alright ladies, check yourself today!  SAVE THE TATAS!!!!!!

NYC Fall Fashion Week!

Hey yall!!!! Ryan here with some confessions of a shopaholic & new mani in honor of the Mercedes-Benz Fall Fashion Week in NYC! I didn't blog the last 2 manis i did...i think because I just wasnt that proud of them.  But Fashion Week started last week on September 6th & ends this week on September 13th. I am not a super big fashion whore. I never have the trendiest outfits of the season. I dont frequently go shopping for clothes. I don't ever care too much for 'name brands' or think too highly of having the status of wearing designer clothes/shoes/purses.  I never actually dress up because my job is to teach tennis...hence I spend my days in Nike & tennis shoes. BUT that doesn't stop me from appreciating fashion. I have a shoe/heel obsession even though I never wear them. I would love to dress super cute all the time if My Pinterest Closet was real & I could have all my pinned outfits in real life :D For my fashion-inpired mani, I wanted to replicate one of my pinned outfits that I would wear if I were attending Fashion Week!

I love a good LBD...I am a more curvy/athletic/full-figured girl. I love this dress because it's black, which tends to hide any imperfections. And I love the fit of this dress, higher straight neck line, higher fitted waistline, then it kinda bubbles out with a full skirt to flatter hips & butt. I also love adding some pop with some very classy turquoise jewelry....last but not least, have yall noticed these shoes???? The soles are lined with silver glitter!!!!!!!! What girl doesnt want black stilettos with glitter-covered soles?!?   To replicate this mani, I used OPI "Black Onyx", Essie "Turquoise & Caicos", & Essie "Set In Stones...and what fitting polish names too to go with this fashion-inspired mani! I put Black Onyx on my thumbs, pointer & pinky nails for the dress & handbag. I put Set In Stones on my middle nails to represent the silver glitter heel bottoms.  I put Turquoise & Caicos on the ring fingernails to represent the turquoise jewelry accents. Last I added Black Onyx on the tips of the turquoise nails.  I decided to bust the homemade lightbox out again for these nail pics. Hope you like this fashion look!

Lady Gaga did a song called "Fashion" that was used in the 2009 movie 'Confessions Of A Shopaholic'...i think it goes perfectly with this fashion post!
"...FASHION. Put it all on me. Don't you want to see these clothes on me!?"

Who doesn't love 'the girl in the green scarf'??? I hope everyone's seen this movie...it didnt get great ratings but i freakin love Confessions of a Shopaholic! And I LOVE Actress Isla Fisher, and her costar - the hilarious Krysten Ritter, from the badass show 'Dont Trust The B In Apt 23'.  Isla Fisher will also be in another female comedy this Fall called "Bachelorette"! She's the bomb & married to the insane Sacha Baron Cohen. Anywho, hope yall enjoyed this fashion-inspired post! Thanks for stopping by! See yall again soon! Enjoy Fashion Week!
