Georgia Peaches

Hey y'all! So my participation with the challenge I just did was an EPIC FAIL. Hardcore 'swatching' and challenges are just not for me.  I missed 2 of the 7 days, even when we were posting every other day. To my fellow challenge ladies I apologize for my lame attempts. Glad I gave it a shot, but I don't wanna get burnt out.  I love painting my nails & I enjoy trying nail art.  I've never been much of a swatcher.  When I do my nails, I paint them to do a mani that I will leave on my nails for 5-7 days.  That being said, enough of my ranting & on to the good stuff!

As y'all may know, I'm a Southern girl. I have lived in Tennessee & now Arkansas.  My family is from the Atlanta area of Georgia. The good ole juicy Georgia peaches are now in season. As a matter of fact, I made a fresh peach cobbler to go with my family's Memorial Day dinner of dry rub smoked ribs, BLT potato salad & deviled eggs.  We keep it southern y'all! ;D I also have an interview on Wednesday so I needed something fresh & light & sweet on my nails.  I chose to use my Essie "A Crewed Interest"...a luminous peach cream.  It's a great professional-looking classy color.  Very in for summer....just like them Georgia peaches!!

I love my lightbox but sometimes it doesn't capture all I want it to.
Like below, I like how the natural sunlight coming in captured the shininess
and showed more true to life the color of the peach in this polish.

Peach Cobbler

I love all genre's of music...but I grew up on Country. It's in my veins, along with a heavy dose of sweet tea.  To go along with my peachy polish, I had to include "Georgia Peaches" by Lauren Alaina

Have y'all used this Essie color before?? Are you a fan of soft nude-toned peach colors?? Do you like peaches? My mom doesn't like the fuzzy skin but i LOVE peaches.  And in the words of my girl Paula Deen, "Best polishes y'all. From my blog to yours!"

SNAAARKM Challenge Day 6: My Forever Mani

Hey y'all! Ryan finally here....a day late, & a dollar short. So sorry, I really dropped the ball on this challenge. I'm just going to skip Tuesday's "Favorite Effect" mani.  Today I have for you Day 6 of the SNAAARKM Challenge: "My Forever Mani"....in better terms if you had to pick one polish to wear for the rest of your life, what would it be???? In my next life I'm coming back as a dancer. I love dancing but just don't have the body for it.  Both of my brother's started doing ballet 3 years ago and are in our local version of The Nutcracker Ballet every December.  I was never more proud than when my 18 year old brother was the Nutcracker Prince lifting & twirling a very gorgeous female dancer.  He was spectacular.

For my "forever mani", I chose a polish inspired by something as structured and beautiful as ballet....OPI "Don't Touch My Tutu!" from the NYC Ballet Collection.  It's a sheer white jelly, took 4 coats for a almost-opaque look.  Nothing more timeless & classic than this lovely white jelly.  You can't go wrong; especially when you need it to be work appropriate & can go with many different outfits.

My brother Tyler as The Nutcracker Prince lifting Clara all over the stage....Pas de Deux lifts. Top: a "Fish Dive" and bottom: a Grand Jeté

one of my very favorite ballet songs & dances...
"Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" by Tchaikovsky

and of course we have to end the post with something great & SNARKY!!!! thanks for stopping by!

SNAAARKM Challenge: Day 4 - Glitter, Rhinestones, & FILMO, Oh My!

BIBBIDI BOBBIDI BLUE!!!!!

Hey y'all! Ryan here again with the 4th day of our little SNAAARKM Challenge...and today's theme is: Glitter, Rhinestones & FILMO, Oh My!!! So I used some of my new Ulta polishes that I haven't tried yet to make an all blue concoction inspired by my little girl Disney Princess love for Cinderella.  Don't we all wish we had a fairy godmother to say "bibbidi bobbidi boo" and make everything all better???

For the mani, I used first an ULTA jelly creme called "Bam-blue-zzled"...i freakin love the Ulta polishes' formula & color selection.  Next I completely covered the ring finger with Ulta "Indigo-go Girl".  I also used "Indigo-go Girl" to do slanted tips on the rest of the nails! This whole look was to represent Cinderella's beautiful baby blue glittering dress and rhinestones for her glass slippers

...had to add my little touch of snarkiness to the post of course

Thats all for today folks! Hope you enjoyed this very bibbidi bobbidi blue post....love you!!!!!

SNAAARKM Challenge: Day 3 - Dotting!

SUPER BASS

Hey y'all! It's day 3 of the SNAAARKM challenge using a dotting tool & I've got a very short quick post for today. I'm the world's ultimate procrastinator.  I just now painted my nails & got this all put together.  My dotting tool mani is inspired by the fabulous Miss Nicki Minaj & her neon bathing suit in the "Super Bass" video.  She's insane & fantastic.  I love her music.

For the mani, I used China Glaze "Celtic Sun" for the base, and China Glaze "Four Leaf Clover" and Sinful Colors "Aquamarine" for the dots.  It's not my best attempt. Sorry guys!

SNAAARKM Challenge: Day 2 - "The Classic"

MARILYN MONROE: THE CLASSIC

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
― Marilyn Monroe

Hey y'all! Day 2 of the SNAAARKM Challenge and we had to do something that is a 'classic'.  I can't think of anything more classic than Marilyn's signature diamonds & red lipstick. So I wanted to create a mani that did her justice. One thing for sure, that girl knew how to "smeyes/smize" (smile with your eyes, America's Next Top Model reference).  I have been recently inspired by Marilyn Monroe because of one of my new favorite shows: SMASH.  It's on NBC on Monday nights at 9pm. The 1st season just finished this past Monday night. It's a fabulous show! Katherine McPhee from American Idol is a main character alongside an actual Broadway star, Megan Hilty. They are both vying for the lead role of Marilyn in a Broadway musical about her life called "Bombshell".  Check it out!

For my Marilyn 'diamonds & red lipstick' classic mani, I chose to do a half moon mani.  I did 2 coats of OPI "Crown Me Already" (a stunning blend of silver glitters).  Next, I didn't have any of the little paper hole protectors to do my half-moon, so I used the tip of a fake plastic nail to make that crescent shape while I painted Essie "Forever Yummy" red over the silver glitters.  The half-moon design leaves just a small round part of the 1st under color showing by your cuticle.  I like how this turned out!

Well ladies...that's it for my snarky post on a classic mani!!! Hope y'all enjoyed!
